UnCommon Core offers alumni a variety of faculty-led lecture/discussion classes

Campus Open Houses

Twice each year, the University invites alumni to come back to class on campus. Each spring the UnCommon Core offers alumni a variety of faculty-led lecture/discussion classes as part of the annual Alumni Weekend and Reunion celebration. Both familiar campus icons and exciting new stars join in, along with a Nobel Laureate or two and the winner of the Norman Maclean Faculty Award.

You don’t need to be part of a Reunion to attend, and all classes are free. Click here for our most recent UnCommon Core schedule.

In the autumn, the annual Humanities Day offers 40+ lectures, tours, and performances featuring Chicago Humanities faculty and staff. All events are free, but registration—which can be done online in the weeks before the event—is required.
