The University is celebrating the successful close of the Chicago Initiative, the most ambitious capital campaign in its history. With the inspiring support of more than 117,000 individuals and organizations, the University exceeded its ambitious $2 billion goal by nearly 20%. The Initiative strengthened the University’s most valuable assets, its human, intellectual, and cultural capital, by:

• 	Supporting students with scholarships, fellowships, and programs that enrich the learning experience.
  	Helping the University retain and recruit exceptional faculty through new endowed professorships and lectureships and support for research and teaching.
  	Building state-of-the-art facilities for research, teaching, learning, and student life.
  	Engaging the community through health, social service, and education initiatives.

Andy Alper, campaign chair, and President Robert J. Zimmer join faculty, students, and other University friends celebrate the success of the campaign and say thank you to the community of alumni and friends who made it possible.
